Cub Career
Di María joined Rosario Central at the age of four, having already signed up to play for his hometown club El Torito. Di María made his professional debut on December 14, 2005, in the last game of the Apertura de Rosario. , a 2-2 draw with Independiente, replaces Emiliano Vecchio. International Career
Di María made his debut for the Argentine national team in the game against Paraguay on September 6, 2008, Di María was selected by the Argentine coach Diego Maradona as one of 23 players for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa on May 19, 2010. When Argentina beat Canada 5-0 on May 24, Di María scored his first international goal.
He helped the team advance to the quarterfinals, played in all five Argentina games, and started four of them. After the World Cup, Di María scored the first international goal on August 11, 2010, at the new Aviva Stadium in Dublin in a friendly against the Republic of Ireland, in which Argentina won 0-1.
